80cm x 120cm
Oil and sand mixture on canvas
The beauty in suffering.
Our actions have consequences from which nature suffers. Sea level rises, the increasing amount of debris gets thrown back onto the land and natural disasters become more frequent. You may call it climate change, but I call it Nature's Uprising.
This piece was my first ever serious painting. I remember how it felt huge to start painting a 80cm x 120cm canvas. It was like the beginning of my “weird art” journey, where I go crazy with different elements and try to explore what possibilities I have. In “Uprising”, I used a sand mixture made of aquarium sand, white acrylic and Amsterdam’s modelling paste.
